This policy explains how Cairo Syntax ("we", "us") collects and uses personal data through cairosyntax.com and our client portal. We process personal data in line with Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 and its executive regulations.

What we collect
- Enquiry forms (contact, partnership, portal access, tech solutions): your name, work email, company, phone number (optional), area of interest and your message.
- Portal accounts: full name, work email, company name, your role, and your password, which we store only as a one-way encrypted hash. We never see or store your password in readable form.
- Training records: the courses you are enrolled in, attendance and progress, assignments and files you upload, submissions, grades or feedback, and certificates issued to you.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, recorded in our hosting provider's server logs for security and troubleshooting.
- Cookies: one session cookie that keeps you signed in to the portal. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a training or project proposal (at your request, before a contract).
- To create and run your portal account and deliver the training your company has booked (performance of a contract with you or your employer).
- To issue and verify certificates.
- To keep the site and portal secure and working (our legitimate interest).
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We will ask for your consent before using your data for anything else, such as marketing emails, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Your employer's role
If your company enrols you, we share your progress, attendance, submissions and certificates with your company's designated training contact. Your company may also give us your name and work email to create your account.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- our hosting and email providers, which store and deliver data on our behalf;
- trainers and staff who deliver your course, on a need-to-know basis;
- your employer, as described above;
- authorities, where Egyptian law requires it.
The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts and some images from third-party servers, which receive your IP address when your browser requests them.
Transfers outside Egypt
Our hosting provider's servers may be located outside Egypt. Where data is transferred abroad, we do so only as permitted by Law 151/2020 and with safeguards that give it a level of protection no lower than Egyptian law requires.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless they lead to a contract.
- Portal accounts and training records: for as long as the account is active, then up to 36 months so we can verify certificates and answer your company's questions.
- Server logs: up to 90 days.
- Invoices and contracts: as long as tax and commercial law requires.
Your rights
Under Law 151/2020 you can:
- know what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted or its use restricted, unless we must keep it by law;
- object to processing, and withdraw consent you have given;
- be told of any data breach that affects you.
To use these rights, email channels@cairosyntax.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to Egypt's Personal Data Protection Center.
Security
We use HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, access controls on the portal and restricted staff access. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
Our services are for companies and their employees. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will tell portal users about significant changes by email or in the portal.
