Almost every company in Egypt and the Gulf now has an AI line in its training plan. The hard part is not finding a course; it is finding one that changes how people work a month later. Here are six checks for HR and L&D teams before signing.
1. Does it start from your team's real tasks?
A generic prompt-writing session is forgotten quickly. Ask the provider which of your tasks they will use: drafting proposals, summarising reports, answering customer emails, reconciling data. A good programme asks for examples before the first session and builds exercises from them.
2. Is it split by role?
Finance, sales, HR and engineering use AI differently. One mixed session for 60 people rarely works. Look for tracks by role or level, for example foundations for everyone, applied automation for power users, and agent-building for technical staff.
3. Does it cover what is safe to share?
The first question from managers is usually "What can we paste into these tools?" Training should cover your approved tools (for example Microsoft 365 Copilot or an internal assistant), what counts as confidential or personal data, and how to check AI output before it reaches a client. In Egypt, personal data is protected under Law No. 151 of 2020, so this is not optional.
4. Does every participant leave with something built?
The test of a session is what people take back to their desk: a saved prompt library for their role, an automated workflow, a first agent. If the outcome is only "awareness", expect little change.
5. Is it measured before and after?
Ask how the provider will show impact. A short skills check before the programme, at the end and again 30 days later, plus a count of workflows still in use, tells you more than satisfaction scores.
6. Can it run in Arabic, on-site or online?
Most teams in the region work in Arabic with English technical terms. Sessions should be able to do the same, and run at your office, at a training venue or live online, with recordings for people who miss a session.
A simple way to start
You do not need to commit to a company-wide rollout on day one. Pick one team and one process, run a short pilot, and measure it. If the numbers move, expand.
How we run it at Cairo Syntax
Our AI track takes company teams from everyday generative AI to automating real workflows and building AI agents, in three levels. Each level uses your team's own tasks and ends with something they use the following week. Delivery is in Arabic or English, on-site in Egypt and the Gulf, or online, live or recorded.
